Harleen Deol Shines in UP Warriors' Triumph

Harleen Deol's impressive unbeaten score of 64 runs propelled the UP Warriors to their inaugural victory in the Women's Premier League (WPL) season. In a thrilling chase against the Mumbai Indians, the Warriors broke their streak of three consecutive losses. Deol was awarded Player of the Match for her match-winning innings. After the game, she expressed her joy, stating that this win holds significant importance for the team.

Deol Reflects on Her Performance

According to reports from a sports media outlet, Deol shared her excitement about the team's first win, saying, "I am very happy with our first victory." She noted that she had been batting well even the previous day. "As you saw today, Chloe (Tryon) can change the course of a match. I approached it with that mindset. She can hit big shots, but that didn’t happen for us today. I view it from that perspective," she added. Reflecting on her innings, she mentioned, "There was nothing different today. I just managed to hit a few boundaries; sometimes, you have good days. My preparation was normal; I batted well yesterday too, so there’s no point in overthinking that (retired out). The first two matches didn’t go my way. I was playing too many shots early on, which wasn’t suitable for this wicket."

Captain Meg Lanning Praises Team's Resilience

UP Warriors' captain Meg Lanning commended her team's remarkable performance after overcoming early setbacks and highlighted Deol's maturity. Lanning remarked that there were many positives from the first three matches, even though the performances were not up to par. "Tonight, we made a strong comeback against a formidable team like the Mumbai Indians. It has been a learning phase for me and the team. We have played good cricket but haven’t performed as well as we could have. She also mentioned that discussions within the team helped change the situation.

Harmanpreet Kaur's Take on the Match

Mumbai Indians' captain Harmanpreet Kaur felt that her team fell slightly short of a competitive score. She commented, "I thought 180 runs would be a decent score. Batting first wasn’t easy. We performed reasonably well in the powerplay."
