Hardik Pandya's Impressive Return to Competitive Cricket

Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya made a remarkable return to competitive cricket after two months, scoring an unbeaten 77 runs to guide Baroda to a seven-wicket victory over Punjab in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Group C match. Pandya's innings came off just 42 balls, featuring seven boundaries and four sixes.


Punjab set a target of 222 runs, finishing their innings at eight wickets down in 20 overs, with Indian opener Abhishek Sharma contributing a quick 50 runs off 19 balls. Thanks to Pandya's performance, Baroda chased down the target, scoring 224 runs for the loss of three wickets in just 19.1 overs.


This match marked Pandya's first competitive appearance since playing against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup Super Four in Dubai back in September. In that match, he bowled four overs, conceding 52 runs and taking one wicket.


Currently, Baroda sits fourth in the group standings with eight points, while Gujarat leads the table, followed by Bengal and Punjab in second and third places, respectively. In another group match, Gujarat defeated Puducherry by nine wickets, with Puducherry being bowled out for 83 runs in 13.1 overs. Gujarat chased down the target in just nine overs, losing one wicket.


Bengal also had a strong performance, with opener Karan Lal scoring 113 runs off 50 balls, leading his team to a five-wicket win over Himachal Pradesh with eight balls to spare. Himachal scored 208 runs for five wickets, while Bengal successfully chased down the target, finishing with 212 runs for five wickets. Haryana also secured a victory, defeating the Army team, which scored 157 runs for four wickets, by four wickets, thanks to Ankit Kumar's unbeaten 78 runs.
