Hardik Pandya Rejoins Mumbai Indians

Hardik Pandya, the captain and prominent all-rounder, has rejoined the Mumbai Indians (MI) squad in Raipur as they prepare for a vital IPL 2026 match against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. He had previously missed the last game due to back spasms, a situation confirmed by the franchise through a post on their Instagram account featuring Hardik.

Injury Update on Pandya

In the last IPL 2026 match against the Lucknow Super Giants, Suryakumar Yadav took over the captaincy in Hardik's absence. Following MI's impressive victory over LSG, Ryan Rickelton addressed the media regarding Hardik's condition. He stated, "I learned this afternoon about his back spasms, but I cannot comment on the severity of the issue. I prefer not to label it as an injury at this point. However, I am optimistic that he will rejoin the team as we head to Raipur this week."

Upcoming Match and Playoff Aspirations

A comprehensive training session is planned at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium, where Pandya is anticipated to participate in net practice on Friday. The defending champions, RCB, will face off against the five-time champions in a highly anticipated match on Sunday evening.

Currently, the Mumbai Indians find themselves in a challenging position, sitting ninth on the points table with three wins and seven losses. To maintain any hope of reaching the playoffs, they must secure victories in all their remaining matches. Meanwhile, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, after their recent defeat to LSG, have slipped to third place, marking their fourth loss in the tournament.
