Hansi Flick Extends Contract with FC Barcelona Until 2028
Hansi Flick's Contract Renewal with Barcelona
The head coach of FC Barcelona, Hansi Flick, is poised to extend his contract until June 2028, with the club confirming that an agreement has been reached. During a press conference prior to the Champions League match against Newcastle on March 18, Flick declared that Barcelona would be the final chapter of his managerial journey, putting an end to any speculation regarding his future.
This announcement follows the re-election of Joan Laporta, who has acted swiftly to ensure stability in the club's sporting direction. In an interview with RAC1, Laporta revealed that the renewal with Flick is imminent. “We will soon announce Flick's extension for another season until 2028. Hansi has already consented to the renewal; we are all aligned,” Laporta stated.
Flick expressed his fondness for the club and the supportive environment that influenced his decision to stay. “I enjoy my work here. I have a wonderful family and an excellent staff,” he remarked. He also confirmed that this role would be his last in professional management, stating, “I’m not considering joining any other club. I’m here, and this could be my final club and job in my career; I’m very content at Barça.”
Flick emphasized his commitment to enhancing the team's performance and maximizing player potential. “I strive to give my best for my team and assist them in reaching their highest capabilities,” he noted. Since joining Barcelona in 2024, Flick has led the team to a domestic treble in his inaugural season and secured the Spanish Super Cup, although they fell short in the Copa del Rey final against Atletico Madrid.
Currently, Barcelona sits at the top of La Liga, boasting a four-point advantage over Real Madrid after a decisive 5-2 victory against Sevilla. Flick's impressive record of 78 wins in 104 matches highlights his significant impact since taking the helm. The upcoming clash against Newcastle United in the Champions League will be crucial, with his contract extension providing additional stability to the club's ongoing campaign.
