Suspension of Haider Ali by PCB

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has suspended cricketer Haider Ali following his arrest by Greater Manchester Police due to a rape allegation. The 24-year-old batsman was in England with the Pakistan Shaheens when he was detained after an incident that reportedly took place at a location in Manchester on July 23, 2025.


According to the Greater Manchester Police, a formal complaint of sexual assault led to the arrest of the cricketer. While the identity of the complainant has not been revealed, the PCB has confirmed Haider's involvement and has acted swiftly to suspend him.


The police stated, 'A report of a rape was made to police on Monday, 4 August 2025. It’s alleged that the incident occurred on Wednesday, 23 July 2025, at a premises in Manchester. We have arrested a 24-year-old man. He has since been bailed pending further enquiries.'


In an official communication, the PCB indicated that a criminal investigation is underway and that Haider has been provisionally suspended from all cricket activities.


The PCB emphasized its commitment to the welfare and legal rights of its players, ensuring that Haider Ali receives the necessary legal support during this process. They stated, 'The PCB fully respects the legal procedures and processes of the United Kingdom and acknowledges the importance of allowing the investigation to run its due course. Accordingly, the PCB has decided to place Haider Ali under provisional suspension, effective immediately, pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation.'
