Gujarat Titans' Ambitions for IPL 2026

As the Gujarat Titans gear up for their inaugural match in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, captain Shubman Gill has articulated the team's aspirations to consistently achieve high scores, tailored to varying conditions. He emphasized the importance of winning matches regardless of the circumstances, stating, "Ultimately, the objective is to outscore the opposing team, whether by four runs or a substantial margin of 150-200 runs. We are not focused on the allure of scoring 300-350 in a single game; our aim is to be a team that regularly posts significant totals and meets the par score for the pitch," during a pre-season media briefing in Ahmedabad on Thursday.

Emphasis on Versatility

Gill further stressed the necessity of adaptability, asserting that the team strives to perform well in diverse venues and conditions. "Our goal is to secure victories in various environments. We do not wish to be a team that only excels on favorable pitches," he remarked.

Leadership Transition

Having established himself as a leading batsman in the tournament, Gill scored 650 runs last season, 426 runs the previous year, and an impressive 890 runs in 2023. The Gujarat Titans, who were led by Hardik Pandya, celebrated their first IPL title in 2022 during their debut season. As the 2024 season approaches, Gill has taken over the captaincy.
