With impressive performances from players like Kagiso Rabada and Sai Sudharsan, the match showcased a series of remarkable statistics and records. Read on to explore the highlights and key moments from this thrilling encounter.

GT Secures Largest IPL Win Against SRH

In a remarkable display, Gujarat Titans (GT) achieved their most significant victory in Indian Premier League (IPL) history, defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 82 runs in Ahmedabad. This win surpassed their previous record set just two days prior. While defending a total of 169 runs, GT's Kagiso Rabada and Mohammed Siraj delivered an outstanding performance during the powerplay, leading to SRH's collapse at a mere 86 runs in 14.5 overs, with none of their batsmen reaching 20 runs.

A Night Filled with Records

On May 9, GT had previously secured a 77-run victory over Rajasthan Royals (RR), marking their largest win until now. This latest defeat represents SRH's most significant loss by runs, surpassing their 80-run defeat to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) last season. In that match, SRH was bowled out for 120 runs while chasing a target of 201, thanks to a three-wicket haul from Vaibhav Arora.

This match also marks the first instance since 2024 that SRH has failed to chase a target under 200 runs in the IPL. Their total of 86 runs is now the lowest all-out score in IPL history, falling short of the 96 runs they scored against Mumbai Indians (MI) in 2019.

GT's Defense of 168 Runs

The 168 runs defended by GT is the second-lowest total successfully defended in IPL 2026, following Rajasthan Royals' defense of 159 runs against LSG in Lucknow. GT has now won six out of seven encounters against SRH, including four victories at their home ground in Ahmedabad.

Fifties from Sudharsan and Washington Propel GT

In the match, SRH chose to bowl first at the toss, and GT found themselves at 26/2 early on. Sai Sudharsan played a crucial role, scoring 61 runs off 44 balls, supported by Nishant Sindhu, who contributed 22 runs. Together, they formed a 38-run partnership, followed by a 60-run partnership with Washington Sundar, who scored 50 runs off 33 balls. GT finished their innings at 168/5, thanks to the contributions from Sudharsan and Washington. Praful Hinge (2/17 in three overs) and Sakib Hussain (2/37 in four overs) were standout bowlers for SRH, while skipper Pat Cummins had a commendable spell of 1/20.

Rabada's Spell Disrupts SRH's Chase

In the chase, Mohammed Siraj (1/11 in three overs) made an early impact by dismissing Travis Head for a duck. Kagiso Rabada (3/28 in four overs) dismantled SRH's top order, taking out Abhishek Sharma (6), Ishan Kishan (11), and Smaran Ravichandran (9), leaving SRH at 32/4 within 5.5 overs. Jason Holder (3/20 in four overs) and Prasidh Krishna (2/23 in three overs) completed the rout, with SRH's captain Cummins being the top scorer with 19 runs.

Match Standings and Player of the Match

Rabada was named 'Player of the Match' for his exceptional performance during the powerplay. With this victory, GT remains at the top of the table with eight wins and four losses, totaling 16 points, while SRH has dropped to third place with seven wins and five losses, accumulating 14 points.
