Gaganjeet Bhullar vs. Sachin Baisoya at AM Green IGPL
Gaganjeet Bhullar, a prominent figure in Indian golf with 11 Asian Tour victories, is scheduled to face Sachin Baisoya, the recent champion, as the AM Green IGPL moves to South Africa.
This week's event will take place at the prestigious Royal Johannesburg Golf Club, renowned as one of Africa's premier golfing venues. The AM Green IGPL Invitational in South Africa marks the second leg of the African tour and the third event in a series of 15 planned for the 2026 season. Competitors will play on the Par-72 Royal Johannesburg West Course, a venue that has previously hosted the National Open of South Africa and the esteemed Joburg Open.
Star-Studded Lineup of Competitors
Joining Bhullar, who secured victory in the season's opening event in Chandigarh, will be Sachin Baisoya, who recently triumphed in Mauritius. This win was significant for Baisoya, who had previously faced challenges in clinching a title despite several near-misses.
Other notable participants include the talented 18-year-old Veer Ganapathy, who finished second in Mauritius after leading for two rounds; Karandeep Kochhar, who recently achieved a Top-5 finish in Japan's International Series; Aman Raj, a multiple IGPL champion in 2025; and Pukhraj Singh Gill, the 2025 AM Green IGPL Order of Merit winner.
Additional Competitors and Women Participants
Shiv Kapur, a seasoned Asian Tour winner with mixed experiences in South Africa, will also compete. He notably finished as runner-up in the SA Open in 2010 after a playoff loss.
The tournament will feature 58 players, including 10 women from the Women's Golf Association of India (WGAI) Tour, some of whom also participate in the Ladies European Tour. Noteworthy female golfers include Vani Kapoor, Ridhima Dilawari, Vidhatri Urs, and Neha Tripathi, along with promising newcomers Mannat Brar and Heena Kang.
The field also includes six South African players, among them amateur Kaiden Chetty, a rising star with a strong track record in junior competitions.
Current Standings and Team Competition
In the individual standings, Sachin Baisoya leads with earnings of Rs 32,10,000, followed by Gaganjeet Bhullar with Rs 24,96,000, and Veer Ganapathy in third place with Rs 17,73,038. Ridhima Dilawari was the top female player in Mauritius, finishing tied for 11th.
The competition for team honors will also continue at the Royal Johannesburg Golf Club. Following the team auction, the race began in Mauritius, with Phoenix Hyderabad leading the pack, including Baisoya and teammates Raghav Chugh, Arjun Bhati, and Ranjit Singh. Atri Mumbai, featuring Aman Raj, Udayan Mane, and others, is closely pursuing them, while RVR Delhi, with Shiv Kapur and Gaurav Ghei, holds third place.
The winning team at each AM Green IGPL event is determined by the combined scores of the two best cards from four team members each day. The top team earns 100 points, with subsequent teams receiving decreasing points down to 10 for the tenth place. The overall champion team for 2026 will be based on total points accumulated throughout the season.
