The squad, fresh from their 1-0 triumph over Argentina in the final held in New Jersey, arrived in the Spanish capital where they were honored by the royal family and met with Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez. Sánchez expressed gratitude to the coaches and players for their remarkable performance, stating, “We have truly enjoyed watching you play.” Following this, the team embarked on a jubilant parade aboard an open-top bus adorned with images of the players and the phrase 'Stars shine together'. Throughout the procession, players celebrated with the crowd, proudly displaying the World Cup trophy and wearing shirts that read Somos Campeones (We Are Champions). Coach Luis de la Fuente shared, “It’s been an emotional and proud experience to represent a wonderful country with such passionate and devoted fans. We are filled with joy.”

The Grand Welcome

Celebrating his 25th birthday, Álex Baena proudly carried the World Cup trophy onto the stage. When Coach De la Fuente was announced, his players joyfully tossed him into the air. The atmosphere was electric, with the coach even joining in on the music as striker Borja Iglesias took on the role of DJ, entertaining the crowd with his teammates dancing around him.

At the event's conclusion, the entire Spain team raised the World Cup trophy, mirroring their earlier celebration during the awards ceremony. Fans began gathering near Cibeles early on Monday, bringing umbrellas to shield themselves from the intense heat, with temperatures soaring to 35 degrees Celsius (95 degrees Fahrenheit). Historically, Cibeles Square has been a gathering place for former Spain teams and their supporters, as well as a site for Real Madrid's championship celebrations. Officials estimated that around 1.8 million fans welcomed the team back to Madrid, celebrating Spain's second World Cup victory, and the first since their win in South Africa in 2010, following Ferran Torres' decisive goal in extra time on Sunday.
