Punjab Kings Maintain IPL 2026 Lead Despite Consecutive Losses
Punjab Kings Hold Top Position in IPL 2026
Under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer, Punjab Kings (PBKS) have managed to stay at the forefront of the IPL 2026 standings, even after facing their second straight defeat, this time against Gujarat Titans (GT). Currently, PBKS holds 13 points, having secured six victories alongside two losses, and boasts a net run rate (NRR) of +0.855.
On the other hand, Gujarat Titans have climbed to 12 points with their latest win, marking their sixth victory of the season, placing them fifth in the rankings. They share the same points as the second-placed Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Both Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) also have 12 points each. SRH, who were riding high on a five-match winning streak, faced a setback against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the day's opening match. A win would have propelled them to the top of the table.
For the third consecutive day, no team has been able to dethrone PBKS from the top position. Previously, both SRH and RCB had chances to take the lead but ended up losing their respective matches.
