PSG Fans Celebrate Champions League Victory Amid Unrest in Paris
Celebrations Turn Chaotic in Paris
In the wake of Paris Saint-Germain's (PSG) thrilling Champions League victory against Arsenal, over 130 individuals were detained by police in Paris. This win marked PSG's remarkable achievement of securing their second consecutive Champions League title. The city was already on high alert, with 8,000 officers stationed throughout Paris due to previous incidents of violence following PSG victories. Notably, a tragic incident occurred after PSG's 2025 Champions League win, resulting in two fatalities and around 200 injuries.
The match itself was tightly contested, ending in a 1-1 draw after extra time in Budapest. The outcome was decided by a penalty shootout, where PSG triumphed over Arsenal with a score of 4-3. Despite Arsenal's commendable effort to extend the match, they faced disappointment as Eberechi Eze and Gabriel Magalhães failed to convert their penalty attempts.
With this victory, PSG has etched their name in history, becoming only the second club, following Real Madrid, to clinch back-to-back Champions League titles.
