Morocco's Journey to the Knockout Stage

In Guadalupe, Mexico, on June 29, Morocco's head coach, Mohamed Ouahbi, expressed confidence in his team's strong performances throughout the group stage of the FIFA World Cup 2026. However, he acknowledged that their upcoming Round of 32 match against the Netherlands presents a unique challenge that will require tailored strategies.

Morocco secured their place in the knockout rounds by amassing seven points from their matches against Brazil, Scotland, and Haiti, finishing second in Group C, just behind Brazil, who are five-time champions, due to goal difference.

Ouahbi emphasized the importance of adapting their approach for the next match, stating, "In our last three games, we demonstrated our ability to perform well and showed strong character on the field. However, tomorrow's game is different and will require us to find new solutions. This is the mindset we will carry into the match."

He also highlighted the team's effective management of player workloads during their final group-stage game, where he rotated the squad to ensure all players remained fresh and ready for the knockout phase.

From a physical standpoint, Ouahbi noted, "In our third match, we successfully managed playing time as planned. I aimed to distribute minutes among the squad, allowing every player to contribute, which keeps the entire team in optimal condition."

Looking ahead, Ouahbi stated that Morocco will remain focused on their strengths and aim to execute their game plan as effectively as possible in this critical encounter.
