Mbappé's Injury Update

Kylian Mbappé, the captain of the French national team, was taken off the field due to an injury during their recent FIFA World Cup quarterfinal clash with Morocco, which France won 2-0, securing their place in the semifinals. Fortunately, the ankle issue will not prevent him from participating in the highly anticipated semi-final against Spain at Dallas Stadium tonight. Coach Didier Deschamps reassured fans about Mbappé's condition, stating, "Kylian is fine." However, it was noted that the 28-year-old did not complete the full training session, raising some concerns about his fitness level. Deschamps mentioned, "Yes, he trained. He is allowed to do 10 minutes in one drill instead of 15."

France vs. Spain: A Historic Rivalry

France Face Spanish Challenge

Despite France's impressive unbeaten run leading to the semifinals, Deschamps does not consider his team the favorites against Spain. He commented on Spain's journey, which began with a goalless draw against World Cup newcomers, saying, "Forget about the first game against Cape Verde. Since then, Spain has reaffirmed its dominance." This statement comes in light of remarks made by Lamine Yamal, a 19-year-old Spanish talent, who expressed confidence after their quarterfinal win over Belgium, stating, "I believe if France has to fear anyone, it should be us, in my opinion. We were the ones that knocked them out before." Historically, France and Spain have faced each other only once in the World Cup, with France winning 3-1 in the 2006 round of 16. However, Spain has triumphed in their last two meetings. As both teams aim for a spot in the finals, France aspires to emulate the success of Germany and Brazil, who have reached three consecutive World Cup finals. The final match is scheduled to take place at New Jersey Stadium on July 19 (July 20 in India).
