Berlin [Germany], August 10: Harry Kane, the England international and Bayern Munich forward, is poised to be honored with the esteemed 'Golden Shoe' for being the top scorer in European football during the 2025-26 season.
According to the official Bayern Munich website, this marks the second occasion Kane will receive this prestigious accolade, placing him among an elite group of players who have achieved this feat twice, alongside legends like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, who have won it more frequently. The award ceremony is scheduled for August 19 at the FC Bayern Museum.
In an outstanding season, Kane netted 36 goals in the Bundesliga, matching the tally that earned him the award two years prior. He is also a strong contender for this year's The Best FIFA Men’s Player award.
Across all competitions, Kane scored 73 goals in 65 matches for both club and country, while also providing eight assists. This impressive total ranks as the second-highest in a single season in the 21st century, surpassed only by Messi's remarkable 91 goals in the 2011/12 season.
His contributions were crucial in securing the league title, the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup, and the DFB Cup for FC Bayern, where he notably scored a hat-trick in the cup final held in Berlin, finishing as the top scorer of the tournament. Additionally, Kane has been recognized as the Bundesliga's top scorer for three consecutive years and was the second-highest scorer in the Champions League for the 2025/26 season. He also holds the record for the fastest player to reach 100 goals for a club in one of Europe's top five leagues.
As captain of the England national team, Kane led his squad to the FIFA World Cup semifinals, marking their best performance since their 1966 World Cup victory. He also became the highest-scoring British player in World Cup history, concluding the tournament with seven goals.
Kane is the third player from Bayern Munich to receive this prestigious award, following in the footsteps of Gerd Muller, who won it in 1970 and 1972, and Robert Lewandowski, who claimed it in 2021 and 2022. Kane's achievement marks his second time receiving this honor.
