New Delhi, July 17: The upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026 will not only award the iconic trophy and gold medals to the champions but will also introduce the first-ever championship rings.
According to a statement from FIFA, the winners will receive custom-designed championship rings, incorporating a celebrated tradition from American sports into the global football arena.
One side of the ring will showcase the FIFA World Cup trophy, while the opposite side will be personalized to represent the winning team's identity. Each ring will be uniquely numbered, tailored for a perfect fit, and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
Following the final match, the captain and head coach of the winning team will initially receive temporary rings to mark the victory.
Subsequently, all 30 rings awarded to the champions will be customized before their official presentation, ensuring a perfect fit for this monumental achievement.
These rings will be part of a limited edition of just 2,026 pieces, honoring the tournament's year. Out of these, 30 will be given to the winning team, while 1,996 will be available to fans globally as an Official Licensed Product, allowing supporters to own a piece of FIFA World Cup 2026 history.
The final match will feature European champions Spain facing off against the defending world champions, Argentina. Spain secured their spot in the final by defeating the favorites, France, in the semi-finals.
Argentina has had a challenging yet exciting journey to their second consecutive World Cup final and seventh overall. They began their campaign with three consecutive victories in the group stage, led by the remarkable Lionel Messi, who has scored eight goals in this tournament and a total of 21 throughout his World Cup career.
