Bengaluru FC Triumphs Over FC Goa with 2-0 Victory in ISL Clash

Bengaluru FC achieved a significant 2-0 victory over FC Goa in the Indian Super League, thanks to goals from captain Sunil Chhetri and Namgyal Bhutia. The win places Bengaluru in a strong position for a top-four finish, while FC Goa struggles to maintain their standing. Bengaluru FC Secures Important Win


In a pivotal match for the Indian Super League 2025-26, Bengaluru FC emerged victorious against FC Goa with a score of 2-0 at the PJN Stadium in Goa on April 4, 2026. This win propelled Bengaluru FC to fourth place in the league standings, accumulating 14 points, while FC Goa fell to seventh with 10 points. Captain Sunil Chhetri and Namgyal Bhutia were the goal scorers, with Ryan Williams earning the Player of the Match title.


Bengaluru FC started strong, taking the lead within the first three minutes. A well-coordinated play between Braian Sánchez and Ashique Kuruniyan set up Chhetri, who calmly placed a right-footed shot into the bottom-left corner, giving the visitors an early 1-0 lead.



FC Goa responded with determination, as Sandesh Jhingan narrowly missed with a header from a corner in the 14th minute. Brison Fernandes also tested Bengaluru's goalkeeper, Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, from distance. The closest chance for Goa came in the 17th minute when Pol Moreno's header hit the post after a well-executed play on the left flank.


Bengaluru continued to pose a threat on counterattacks, with both Sánchez and Kuruniyan attempting long-range shots that failed to find the net. Despite creating several opportunities through set-pieces, FC Goa struggled to penetrate Bengaluru's solid defense.



As the second half commenced, Bengaluru maintained their momentum, with Kuruniyan and Suresh Singh Wangjam testing the Goa defense. Despite both teams applying pressure, clear scoring opportunities were scarce, with many attempts being blocked or going off target.


FC Goa nearly equalized in the 86th minute when Moreno's diving header was expertly saved by Sandhu, who made a crucial stop to preserve Bengaluru's lead. The visitors secured their victory in stoppage time when substitute Namgyal Bhutia scored from the right side of the box, assisted by Lalremtluanga Fanai, extending the lead to 2-0.


Goa had a late chance to score, but Mohammad Yasir's shot was comfortably saved by Sandhu. The match concluded with Bengaluru FC celebrating a significant 2-0 win, earning three vital points in their quest for a top-four finish.
