Real Madrid have announced the signing of Turkish sensation Arda Guler on a six-year contract on Thursday, July 6, after fending off competition from arch-rivals Barcelona. Guler joined Fenerbahce's youth ranks in 2019, and went on to make his senior debut for the Turkish team during the 2021–22 campaign against HJK in a 2021–22 Europa League play-off round match.

Following the departure of Mesut Ozil, Guler was handed the number 10 jersey and has captured everyone's imagination with his performances in the 2022-23 season. The 18-year-old established himself as a regular in the senior team during the 2022-23 season, attracting the attention of several sides in Europe.

Barcelona made an offer for Guler and his signature but the Turkish talent has now decided to sign for their arch-rivals Real Madrid. Fenerbahce announced on their website that the 18-year-old will be sold for 20 million euros with an additional 10 million in performance-based bonuses. Fenerbahce will also retain a 20% sell-on clause for Guler.

Real Madrid announced on their website that they have agreed a transfer for the youngster and that he will remain with the club on a six-year deal. The 18-year-old is expected to be presented as a Los Blancos player on Friday, July 7, after which he will appear before the media. "Real Madrid CF and Fenerbahçe SK have agreed on the transfer of player Arda G¼ler, who will remain with our club for the next six seasons." "Tomorrow, Friday, July 7, at 12:00 p.m. at Real Madrid City, the presentation ceremony for Arda Güler as the new Real Madrid player will take place."
