Florida Atlantic University Dominates at Georgia College Super Regional
Overview of the Georgia College Super Regional
The Georgia College Super Regional unfolded on March 28-29 at the Atlanta National Pickleball Club in Alpharetta, USA, showcasing elite collegiate teams in one of the most significant events on the DUPR College Pickleball Tour. This tournament marked the fourth iteration of the Georgia Super Regional and was recognized as the second-largest in the history of the tour.
Florida Atlantic University (FAU) continued its impressive streak, remaining the sole program with an unblemished record at the Super Regionals. After clinching victories in Florida during 2023 and 2024, FAU carried its winning momentum into the 2025-26 season with another stellar performance in Georgia.
The Southeastern Conference (SEC) schools also made their mark, with Alabama reaching its inaugural Super Regional final after overcoming Auburn in the semi-finals. Meanwhile, the University of Georgia and the University of Florida advanced to the quarter-finals, showcasing the increasing competitiveness in collegiate pickleball.
There were significant comebacks and surprises throughout the tournament. Florida International University (FIU) and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) participated in their first DUPR College Pickleball Tour event since 2023 and made an immediate impact. FIU achieved a remarkable victory by defeating the No. 2 seed UAH during group play, and both teams secured spots at The Nationals due to their impressive performances.
The tournament underscored the significance of team depth, as LSU’s fourth team and Auburn’s third team surpassed expectations, finishing with a 2-1 record in group play and outperforming other teams from their respective schools.
The group stage on Saturday proceeded smoothly, with only three out of 64 matches requiring a deciding dream breaker. Most matches concluded in straight games, allowing for an efficient schedule while maintaining a high level of competition.
Additionally, the event included participation from four high school teams, highlighting the strengthening connection between junior and collegiate pickleball.
With just a week left before The Nationals, teams are now gearing up for final preparations, focusing on refining their line-ups and building momentum for what promises to be the largest college pickleball event ever.
