Injury Strikes New Zealand Ahead of Tri-Series

Wellington [New Zealand], July 9: New Zealand's cricket team has encountered a significant setback as their key right-handed batsman, Finn Allen, has been sidelined due to an injury. This comes just before the upcoming tri-series featuring Zimbabwe and South Africa.

Allen sustained a foot injury while competing for the San Francisco Unicorns in the Major League Cricket tournament held in the United States. He will be returning to New Zealand for a thorough medical evaluation.

Following further assessments in New Zealand, a recovery timeline will be established for the 26-year-old player. Unfortunately, he will miss the entire tri-series against Zimbabwe and South Africa, which kicks off on July 14.

The Black Caps are expected to announce a replacement for Allen shortly.

Before his injury, Allen was among the top run-scorers in the Major League Cricket, having scored an impressive 151 runs in his first match against Washington Freedom in Oakland.
