Championship Kicks Off in Gwalior
The 4th Hockey India Junior Women Academy Championship 2026 (Zones A & B) commenced in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, showcasing impressive performances from Raja Karan Hockey Academy, Tamil Nadu Hockey Academy, Ritu Rani Hockey Academy, and Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy, all of whom secured significant victories in their opening matches.
In the first match of Pool A, Raja Karan Hockey Academy launched their tournament with a solid 2-0 victory over Khalsa Hockey Academy from Amritsar. The team's captain, Rakhi, was instrumental, scoring both goals at the 25th and 58th minutes.
Tamil Nadu Hockey Academy dominated their match against Hockey Family Badhkhalsa NCR Hockey Society, winning 8-0. S Pooja was a standout player, netting a hat-trick with goals at the 30th, 47th, and 59th minutes. Additionally, Captain Jancy A contributed two goals, while Keerthiga also scored twice, and V Raghavi added another goal to the tally.
In Pool B, Ritu Rani Hockey Academy showcased their strength by defeating Vadipatti Raja Hockey Academy with a staggering score of 13-0. Khushdeep Kaur was the star of the match, scoring four goals, while Heena added a hat-trick. Chahat and Hashmeet Kaur each scored two goals, with Harshdeep Kaur and Sapna also contributing to the scoreline.
The final match of Pool B saw Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy deliver a remarkable performance, overpowering Bhai Behlo Hockey Academy Bhagta with a 12-0 win. Sudipta Kindo, Kanak Pal, Sanjana Mourya, and Sujata Jayant each scored two goals, while Priyanshi Bhawnar, Sneha Davde, Tanvi, and Hirva Purohit rounded out the scoring with one goal each.
