Pickleball World Cup Set to Make History

The third edition of the Pickleball World Cup is scheduled to take place in Da Nang, Vietnam, from August 30 to September 6. For the third consecutive year, the Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating (DUPR) has been designated as the official rating partner, further solidifying its role in the professional pickleball landscape as a comprehensive rating system.

This year's event marks a significant milestone as it will be hosted in Asia for the first time, attracting over 4,000 participants from more than 80 nations. Vietnam has rapidly emerged as a hub for pickleball enthusiasts, with Da Nang boasting excellent infrastructure and connectivity, making it a prime location for the sport.

The impressive turnout highlights the swift growth of pickleball beyond its traditional base in the United States. Once considered a niche pastime, the sport is now being organized with the sophistication and ambition characteristic of a global competition, featuring national teams, structured divisions, and data-driven rankings. DUPR's ongoing involvement is crucial to this evolution.

This year's tournament will feature competitions across 160 categories, encompassing various skill levels, age groups, and professional divisions. This inclusive approach ensures that elite athletes, veterans, juniors, and newcomers all have the chance to participate. The event will also include clinics, educational programs, and industry-focused activities, with registration already in progress, generating excitement for what organizers are calling a pivotal moment in the sport's international development.

Hercilio Cabieses, a key figure behind the World Cup, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership with DUPR, stating, “The Pickleball World Cup embodies the essence of pickleball: community, international connection, and healthy competition. We are thrilled to support an event that unites players from numerous countries and fosters the sport's growth across Asia and beyond.” Tito Machado added, “As pickleball expands globally, collaborations like this create more opportunities for players to compete, connect, and benchmark themselves against the world.”

Cabieses reiterated the importance of this collaboration in achieving the tournament's global aspirations, emphasizing, “Our goal has always been to create a truly international event that unites countries through pickleball. Partnering with DUPR aligns seamlessly with that vision. DUPR sets the global standard for assessing player performance, and their involvement will enhance the competitive experience while welcoming more players and nations than ever before.”
