The DPL will feature eight teams in its second season, including two new franchises: Outer Delhi and New Delhi. The existing teams are as follows:

  • East Delhi Riders
  • North Delhi Strikers
  • West Delhi Lions
  • South Delhi Superstarz
  • Purani Dilli 6
  • Central Delhi Kings

Last season, the East Delhi Riders clinched the title by narrowly defeating the South Delhi Superstarz by three runs. The DPL has emerged as a significant platform for young cricketers to showcase their talents and attract the attention of IPL franchises.

Emerging Talents from DPL to IPL

The DPL has introduced several promising talents to Indian cricket. One standout is Priyansh Arya, who gained attention for hitting six sixes in an over and scoring 120 runs off just 50 balls. He subsequently secured a contract worth Rs 3.80 crore with Punjab Kings (PBKS), amassing 475 runs in 17 matches at a strike rate of 179.24, including one century and two half-centuries.

Another notable player is Digvesh Rathi, who was picked by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for Rs 30 lakh. Despite a one-match ban due to his notebook celebration, he became LSG's leading wicket-taker, claiming 14 wickets in 13 matches.

These success stories highlight the DPL's role as a vital stepping stone for young players aspiring to reach the IPL.
