England Clinches Historic T20I Series

India faced another setback in their five-match T20I series against England, suffering a nine-wicket loss in the fourth match held in Bristol. This defeat gives England a commanding 3-0 lead with one match remaining. Under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer, this marks the second series loss for India, as he seeks his first win as T20I captain.

This series marks a significant achievement for England, as it is the first time they have triumphed over India in a bilateral T20I series that includes multiple matches. Previously, India had won five out of their last six bilateral T20I series against England, with one series ending in a draw.

Before this tour, India's last two series defeats against England across all formats occurred during the 2018 tour, where they lost the ODI series 2-1 and the Test series 4-1. Since then, India had been dominant, winning eight out of ten bilateral series, with the other two being drawn Test series that ended 2-2.

Brook and Salt Lead England's Dominant Chase

Following a rainout in the opening match, England rebounded strongly, winning three consecutive games to secure the series. Chasing a target of 159 runs, England's batsmen made quick work of India's bowling, with Harry Brook and Phil Salt delivering impressive half-centuries to finish the game in just 13.5 overs.

Salt contributed 59 runs off 42 balls, while captain Brook scored a remarkable 79 runs off only 35 balls, including 8 fours and 4 sixes.

Iyer's Efforts Fall Short

India struggled to build momentum with the bat, posting a total of 158/7, despite a valiant unbeaten effort from Iyer. The captain scored 80 not out from 49 balls but received little assistance from his teammates as England's bowlers effectively controlled the game.

Young opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi had another disappointing performance, scoring just 15 runs off 10 balls before being dismissed by Jofra Archer. Archer and Josh Tongue were the standout bowlers for England, each taking two wickets to limit India's scoring opportunities.

With the series already decided, India will aim to restore some pride in the final T20I, while England will look to complete a thorough series victory.
