E Rahul Srivastava, a highly regarded coach in Savate (French Boxing) and Secretary of the Bihar State Savate Association, has been appointed as the head coach for the Indian team participating in the World Youth Savate Championship-2025. This prestigious event is set to take place in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, from July 23 to 28, 2025.


The decision was made by the national governing body for Savate in India, acknowledging Srivastava's extensive experience, contributions, and popularity in the sport. His leadership has previously led Indian athletes to achieve remarkable success, with over 50 international medals in Savate, a record in the nation's history.


The Indian delegation heading to Uzbekistan features talented athletes such as Varun Walia and Homani from Himachal Pradesh, along with Sweety Kumari from Bihar. These selections were based on the athletes' performance, commitment, and potential.


Srivastava has a proven track record, having guided Indian athletes to significant victories, including 10 medals at the Asian Sikh Games 2021, six medals at the Asian Savate Championship 2022 in Bangladesh, 19 medals at the South Asian Savate Championship 2025, eight medals at the Asian Savate Championship 2024 in Indonesia, and 13 medals at the Asian Savate Championship 2025.


In total, he has led India to 52 medals in major international competitions. Given this impressive history, the National Savate Federation has once again entrusted him with the responsibility of leading the national team on the world stage.


The announcement has sparked joy and celebration among athletes, coaches, and sports fans across India. Numerous congratulatory messages have been sent to Srivastava from various corners of the country.
