DUPR Introduces Reset Feature for Enhanced Player Ratings in Pickleball
Overview of DUPR Reset
The Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating (DUPR) has unveiled a new feature called DUPR Reset, allowing players to reassess their ratings within a designated timeframe without the risk of a decline. As pickleball experiences significant growth worldwide, many players feel their current ratings do not accurately represent their skills. DUPR Reset aims to tackle this issue by providing a clear, performance-based method for players to achieve a higher rating.
“DUPR Reset embodies our dedication to maintaining competitive integrity and boosting player confidence,” stated Tito Machado, CEO of DUPR. “Players desire their ratings to reflect their current abilities. This Reset offers a transparent route to demonstrate that through meaningful competition.”
How DUPR Reset Functions
The inaugural Reset Period is set from March 16 to May 17, 2026, and is accessible globally. Players need to opt in through the DUPR website or app. A distinct Reset rating will be computed based solely on matches played during this timeframe. At the conclusion of the period, a player’s official rating will be the higher of their original rating or their Reset rating.
To be eligible, players must complete a minimum of eight matches. Doubles players are required to partner with two different individuals, while singles players must compete against two distinct opponents. Only matches reported through the official DUPR system will be considered.
DUPR's Role in the Sport
Operating on a scale from 2.000 to 8.000, the Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating serves as the official rating system for various organizations, including USA Pickleball, the Professional Pickleball Association, and Major League Pickleball. Recently, the Indian Pickleball Association (IPA) has also adopted DUPR as its official rating system, announcing that all IPA events and match results will now be integrated directly into the DUPR rating framework.
With the introduction of DUPR Reset, the platform aims to eliminate one of the major psychological hurdles in competition—the fear of a rating drop—while promoting structured, performance-oriented play.
