Trump's Participation in World Cup Draw

Washington: The White House has announced that President Donald Trump will be present at the draw for the FIFA World Cup 2026, scheduled to take place at the Kennedy Center this Friday.

The upcoming tournament will see the United States co-hosting alongside Canada and Mexico. After the draw ceremony, FIFA will reveal the revised match schedule for the World Cup.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed in a briefing, "On Friday, President Trump will attend the FIFA World Cup final draw at the Kennedy Center."

This significant event will gather coaches and officials from all teams that have qualified, as well as those still vying for a spot, at the renowned John F. Kennedy Centre for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC. They will learn who their opponents will be in the quest for the championship.

According to the Final Draw procedures, the host nations—Canada, Mexico, and the USA—will be placed in pot 1, while the remaining 39 qualified teams will be distributed into four pots of 12 teams each, based on the FIFA Men’s World Ranking released on November 19.

Additionally, the two placeholders for the FIFA World Cup 2026 Play-Off Tournament and the four European play-off placeholders will be assigned to pot 4.

The updated schedule for the 2026 FIFA World Cup will be disclosed 24 hours after the draw, which will reveal the 12 unique groups of four teams.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino will unveil the draw, accompanied by FIFA Legends and representatives from all 42 qualified teams, along with those still in contention. The event will also confirm the venues and kick-off times for all 104 matches.

The final match schedule will be published in March, following the completion of the FIFA and European play-offs, filling the last six slots.
