A New Addition to the Karthik Family
New Delhi: Dinesh Karthik, the former Indian wicketkeeper-batter, and squash champion Dipika Pallikal have joyfully announced the birth of their daughter, Raaha Pallikal Karthik, adding a delightful new chapter to their family.
The couple took to social media to share their happiness, expressing their heartfelt gratitude as they introduced their little girl, who is now the younger sister to their twin boys, Kabir and Zian.
In their announcement, they wrote, “With blessings in our hearts and gratitude beyond words, we joyfully welcome our precious girl into this world. Kabir and Zian are thrilled to introduce their baby sister, Raaha Pallikal Karthik. Love, Dipika & Dinesh.”
The couple exchanged vows on August 25, 2015, in both Hindu and Christian ceremonies, and welcomed their twins in 2021.
Dinesh Karthik, a notable figure in Indian cricket, had a successful career as a wicketkeeper and batsman before moving into coaching and commentary after retiring from professional play. Over his extensive career, he participated in Tests, ODIs, and T20 Internationals, later taking on the role of mentor and batting coach for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL.
Dipika Pallikal has made her mark in Indian squash as the first woman from the country to reach the top 10 in world rankings. She has received the Padma Shri award and has won numerous medals at the Commonwealth and Asian Games, making her one of India's most celebrated athletes.
Her last competition was at the Hangzhou Asian Games in October 2023, where she won a gold medal in mixed doubles. After returning from maternity leave in early 2022, she made a remarkable comeback, winning two titles at the World Doubles Squash Championships and securing a bronze medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Currently, Karthik is part of the coaching staff for RCB, serving as the batting coach alongside a highly skilled team that includes Andy Flower as head coach and Omkar Salvi as bowling coach.
The support team also includes Richard Halsall as assistant coach, Malolan Rangarajan as spin bowling coach and player identification manager, Basu Shanker as strength and conditioning coach, and Evan Speechly and James Pipe as team physiotherapists, along with Navnita Gautam as the athletic therapist and Dr. Shikha Dhaundiyal as the team doctor.
