Diksha Dagar Leads Indian Trio in Czech Ladies Open Final Round
Diksha Dagar at the Forefront
Former champion Diksha Dagar remains a strong contender for a top finish at the Ladies European Tour, leading a trio of Indian players into the final round of the Czech Ladies Open. Sweden's Lisa Pettersson and England's Charlotte Heath are tied for the lead after another day of impressive scoring.
Diksha, who won this tournament in 2019 and secured a tied third position at the Dutch Ladies Open last week, recorded a solid one-under 69, bringing her total to nine-under-par after two rounds. She is currently tied for 11th place, just four strokes behind the leaders, positioning herself well for a strong performance on Sunday at a course known for its birdie opportunities. The left-handed golfer showcased her consistency with four birdies and a single bogey, following her impressive opening round of 66. With her familiarity with Royal Beroun Golf Club, she aims to leverage her experience in the final round.
Other Indian Players Shine
India celebrated a successful day as Pranavi Urs and Vani Kapoor also made the cut, ensuring three Indian players are in contention for a strong finish. Pranavi, another player supported by Hero, followed her opening round of 67 with a one-under 71, placing her at six-under overall and tied for 37th. She remains in a good position to climb the leaderboard in the final round. Vani Kapoor continued her positive trajectory with a two-under 70 after an opening 68, also at six-under, marking her second cut made this season on the Ladies European Tour, building on her confidence from last year's performances on the Hero Women's Pro Golf Tour.
Challenges for Other Indian Players
Unfortunately, three other Indian players did not advance past the 36-hole mark. Avani Prashanth narrowly missed the cut despite a strong second-round 68 following an opening 75. Ridhima Dilawari also fell short, improving to 70 after a first-round 73. Hitaashee Bakshi missed the weekend with rounds of 71 and 81, as the cut was set at five-under-par.
Pettersson and Heath Share the Lead
At the top of the leaderboard, Pettersson and Heath are tied at 13-under after delivering outstanding second rounds in sweltering conditions. Pettersson climbed into a share of the lead with an impressive seven-under 65, featuring six birdies and an eagle. The Swede, aiming for her second Ladies European Tour title after her 2023 victory, handled the heat of nearly 36 degrees Celsius with remarkable poise.
Heath, a promising rookie on the Tour, matched the lead with a flawless six-under 66, which included seven birdies and just one bogey, maintaining her strong form as she seeks her first LET victory.
Exciting Final Day Ahead
Finland's Noora Komulainen stands alone in third place at 12-under after another bogey-free round of 67. England's Esme Hamilton and New Zealand's Amelia Garvey are tied for fourth at 11-under. A tightly packed leaderboard features five players at 10-under, setting the stage for an exciting final day.
Diksha's group at nine-under includes overnight leader Lydia Hall, Spain's Marta Martin, and Czech favorite Jana Melichova, promising an intriguing battle in the final round.
