Diksha Dagar Impresses with Hole-in-One at MCB Ladies Classic
Diksha Dagar Shines with Hole-in-One
The inaugural MCB Ladies Classic in Mauritius witnessed a spectacular moment as India's Diksha Dagar achieved a remarkable hole-in-one, setting a vibrant tone for her performance. This impressive start positions her as a strong contender for a breakthrough victory this season.
Diksha recorded an impressive score of 4-under 68 during the first round at Constance Belle Mare Plage, placing her in a tie for fourth position. Starting her round on the back nine, she quickly made her mark by sinking a stunning ace on the par-3 11th hole. She continued her momentum with birdies on the 15th and 18th holes, turning at four-under. Although she faced a bogey on the fifth hole, she bounced back with a birdie on the ninth, finishing her round on a high note.
How Other Indians Fared
Among the other Indian competitors, Tvesa Malik delivered a solid performance with a score of 2-under 70, placing her tied for 20th. Her round included three birdies on the front nine, although a double bogey on the ninth hole hindered her progress. She regained her rhythm on the back nine with birdies on the 15th and 17th holes. Hitaashee Bakshi concluded her round with a score of 1-under 71, landing her tied for 30th, while Vani Kapoor struggled with a score of 78, making her path to the cut challenging. The Indian players, spearheaded by Diksha and Tvesa, are looking forward to their home event, the Indian Open, later this year.
Laisne Sets Pace as Competition Heats Up
Leading the leaderboard is France's Agathe Laisne, who delivered an outstanding performance with an 8-under 64, establishing herself as the frontrunner on the opening day. Her consistency was evident as she accumulated ten birdies, continuing her impressive form this season.
Following closely is South Africa's Cara Gorlei, who achieved a score of 7-under 65, featuring two eagles. Denmark's Smilla Tarning Soenderby is in third place with a score of 6-under 66.
With several players tied at four-under, including Diksha, the competition remains fierce as they head into the second round. The next phase will commence early, with only the top 60 players and ties advancing beyond the cut, setting the stage for an exciting contest in the days ahead.
