Diamond Harbour FC Dominates Chanmari FC with 2-0 Win in IFL Championship
Diamond Harbour FC Maintains Top Position
In a decisive match at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Aizawl on Saturday, Diamond Harbour FC secured a 2-0 victory over Chanmari FC, solidifying their lead in the Championship phase of the Indian Football League (IFL) 2025-26. Antonio Moyano opened the scoring in the 35th minute, and substitute R. Ramdinthara sealed the win with a goal in the 87th minute.
Match Highlights and Player Performance
Moyano was awarded Player of the Match for his outstanding performance. With this win, Diamond Harbour now holds 25 points from ten matches, while Chanmari remains in fifth place with 11 points from the same number of games.
First Half Overview
Chanmari FC's Head Coach Dipankur Sharma made a strategic change in the attack, bringing in KC Malsawmsanga for Aron Vanlalrinchhana. On the other hand, Kibu Vicuna gave K. Ajith Kumar his first start of the season, replacing Naresh Singh, and introduced Sunday Afolabi in midfield for Hugo Diaz.
Both teams faced challenges in breaking through each other's defenses, with much of the action occurring in midfield. Chanmari displayed sharpness in their attacks, utilizing the speed of Jota and Malsawmsanga, while Diamond Harbour focused on building their plays methodically.
Midway through the first half, Chanmari nearly scored with a well-executed play. Luka Majcen found Moyano in the box, but his shot was saved by goalkeeper Zothanmawia, and Paul Ramfangzauva missed the follow-up.
Moyano's brilliance shone through in the 35th minute when he received the ball at the edge of the box, maneuvered past defenders, and unleashed a powerful shot that hit the post before finding the net, marking his fifth goal of the season.
Second Half Developments
The second half mirrored the first, with Chanmari starting strong while Diamond Harbour aimed to control the pace of the game. Malsawmsanga continued to challenge the defense, forcing a fingertip save from Dheeraj Singh with a low shot.
At the other end, Zothanmawia made an impressive save to deny Melroy Assisi's header from a set-piece around the hour mark.
Diamond Harbour maintained possession in the opposition half, creating opportunities through set-pieces and quick counter-attacks. They appeared in control throughout the match, rarely feeling the pressure from Chanmari's attempts to equalize.
The visitors secured their victory three minutes before the final whistle when substitute Ramdinthara outmaneuvered his marker at the far post and headed in Bryce Miranda's cross from the left.
Conclusion
Despite Chanmari's late efforts to score, Diamond Harbour managed to maintain their composure and achieved their second clean sheet of the season.
