Dhiraj Bommadevara Celebrated for Asian Games Silver Medals

Indian archer Dhiraj Bommadevara received a hero's welcome in Vijayawada after winning two silver medals at the Asian Games 2026 in Japan. Expressing his gratitude, he stated that the warm reception would motivate him to work harder for future competitions, including the World Championships and the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Dhiraj's achievements included a silver in the men's recurve team event and another in the mixed recurve archery team event. His dedication and aspirations to make his country proud shine through as he prepares for upcoming challenges.
 

Hero's Welcome for Dhiraj Bommadevara

Upon his return to Vijayawada, Indian archer Dhiraj Bommadevara was greeted with enthusiasm by family, friends, sports officials, and fans after his impressive performance at the Asian Games 2026 in Japan, where he won two silver medals.


Motivation to Excel

In an interview, Dhiraj expressed his gratitude for the warm reception, stating that it would inspire him to strive harder and bring pride to his country and state. He mentioned his upcoming goals, which include competing in the World Championships that will provide Olympic quotas, followed by the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028.


"I am overwhelmed by the support from my coaches, family, friends, and the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh. This welcome motivates me to work even harder and represent our nation proudly," he shared.


Achievements at the Asian Games

Dhiraj, alongside teammates Yashdeep Sanjay Bhoge and Neeraj Chauhan, earned a silver medal in the men's recurve team event, despite a 1-5 defeat against South Korea in the finals.


Earlier in the competition, he also partnered with Kumkum Mohod to secure another silver in the mixed recurve archery team event, losing 3-5 to China's Zhu Jingyi and Li Mengqi in the gold medal match.
