Dewald Brevis, a batter for Chennai Super Kings (CSK), recently discussed the valuable advice he received from the iconic MS Dhoni regarding maintaining confidence without tipping into overconfidence. This guidance has resonated with Brevis since his debut season in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2022.

At just 23 years old, Brevis joined CSK in IPL 2025 as a substitute for the injured Gurjapneet Singh. He quickly became a pivotal player for the five-time IPL champions. Throughout the 2025 season, he had the opportunity to share the dressing room with Dhoni, who took charge of the team after Ruturaj Gaikwad was sidelined due to a serious injury.

In a conversation, Brevis recounted how Dhoni advised him during his initial IPL season. He emphasized the importance of confidence while steering clear of overconfidence. Brevis stated, "One of the best pieces of advice I received from MS was during my first year in IPL, even before I joined Chennai.
