Devon Conway Joins New Zealand Squad for T20I Tri-Series in Zimbabwe

Devon Conway has been called up to replace the injured Finn Allen in New Zealand's squad for the T20I tri-series in Zimbabwe. This change comes as the team prepares for the tournament, which runs from July 14 to July 26. With seasoned players returning and others still engaged in the Major League Cricket, Conway's experience is expected to bolster the Kiwi lineup. Head coach Rob Walter expressed disappointment over Allen's injury but is optimistic about Conway's contribution. The series serves as a crucial opportunity for New Zealand to gear up for future ICC events.

Conway Steps In for Injured Finn Allen

Devon Conway has been selected to join New Zealand's squad for the upcoming T20I tri-series in Zimbabwe, which also features South Africa. He replaces Finn Allen, who is sidelined due to an injury sustained during the ongoing Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025 season.

Previously, New Zealand Cricket announced a 15-member team that included experienced bowlers Adam Milne and Matt Henry. However, with several players still participating in the MLC, additional players have been brought in. Mitch Hay, Tim Robinson, and James Neesham have been added as backups for Michael Bracewell, Glenn Phillips, Rachin Ravindra, and Mark Chapman, all of whom are expected to compete in the MLC final set for Sunday.

New Zealand's head coach Rob Walter expressed disappointment over Finn's injury, stating, "We’re really gutted for Finn. I was looking forward to working with him and to see him continue his form from the MLC, but unfortunately, injuries happen. We’re fortunate to have someone of Devon’s caliber to step in for Finn."

The tri-series is scheduled from July 14 to July 26, with New Zealand kicking off their campaign on July 16. Conway's inclusion is expected to provide stability and experience to the Kiwi batting lineup, especially in light of Allen's absence.

Having last played international cricket earlier this year, Conway is anticipated to seamlessly integrate back into the playing XI. His adaptability across different formats and recent strong performances in franchise cricket make him a vital asset for New Zealand, particularly as they prepare for potential future ICC tournaments.
