Denpasar's Ambitious Goals for the Upcoming Sports Week

Denpasar is determined to maintain its leading position in Bali's pickleball community, with officials setting their sights on another overall championship at the Porjar (Sports Week) after last year's impressive performance. The city previously clinched the overall title, amassing 12 gold, nine silver, and five bronze medals, and is now focused on achieving similar success this year.

I Komang Arya Wira Suryawan, the Deputy Chairman of IPF Denpasar, stated that the selection of top athletes will be determined by their performance during the competition. 'Yes, it's based on medal counts and other supporting achievements,' Komang Arya noted.

Competitors who excel at the Porjar will gain direct entry to the provincial level, although final participation will hinge on the quotas provided. 'The winner will certainly qualify directly for the provincial level. We are currently awaiting the athlete quota from the Denpasar City Education and Culture Office. We hope everything will be facilitated,' he elaborated.

The competition structure includes participation from various school levels, ensuring equal representation. 'Each level will feature six boys and six girls,' he added.

To enhance their preparations, Denpasar has established a training center program for selected athletes in anticipation of upcoming events, including the Mandalika competition and the Bali Porsenijar. 'There will definitely be special development through the training center for the best student athletes,' he affirmed.

Despite their ambitions, challenges persist, particularly regarding infrastructure. 'Our challenge is the absence of a dedicated standard court; we've been sharing facilities with other sports,' he concluded.
