Delhi Hosts Successful Harish Sharma 3 on 3 Basketball Championship
Exciting Conclusion of the Championship
The Harish Sharma 3 on 3 All India Basketball Championship wrapped up today at IG Stadium in New Delhi, with Delhi Minister Ashish Sood gracing the event as the Chief Guest, as reported by a local media outlet.
Minister Sood expressed his enthusiasm for the unique championship, stating, “This event is a pioneering effort; the 3 on 3 format represents the future of basketball. I commend the organizers and the family of the late Harish Sharma for their commitment to promoting sports. The Delhi Government is dedicated to supporting such initiatives, and we will be organizing a Khel Mahakumbh.”
In the women's final, the Tabata X No Look team triumphed over ALLEY OOP with a close score of 16-14, while the HS-tabata9 men's team secured victory against Phoenix with a score of 21-15.
Roopam Harish Sharma, Chairperson of the Organizing Committee, remarked, “It’s inspiring to see Harish Sharma’s legacy continue through this vibrant 3 on 3 format, which keeps his spirit and contributions to basketball alive.”
Sudhanshu Mittal, Co-Chairperson of the Organizing Committee, noted, “The enthusiasm displayed by the players during this championship highlights the engaging nature of the 3 on 3 format.”
Mukesh Kalia, President of the Delhi Basketball Association (DBA), emphasized that the championship serves as a tribute to the late Harish Sharma, stating, “It’s wonderful to witness the passion and talent exhibited by youth from all over the country.”
Former MP and BJP leader Poonam Mahajan attended the event, congratulating the players and highlighting how the 3 on 3 format is elevating basketball.
Other notable attendees included former Delhi Mayor Arti Mehra, Chand Rehan, Senior VP of DBA, and Parminder Singh, an Arjuna awardee basketball player from Punjab, whose presence motivated the young athletes.
Aadhav Arjuna, President of the Basketball Federation of India (BFI), praised the championship, saying, “The event showcased remarkable performances from the teams, and I extend my congratulations to everyone involved, especially the family of the late Shri Harish Sharma for organizing such a fantastic event in the 3 on 3 format.”
The championship featured matches played on three basketball courts simultaneously, providing an exhilarating experience for both players and spectators. Organized by the Prithvi Nath Club (PNC) in collaboration with the Delhi Basketball Association (DBA), the event was held under the auspices of the Basketball Federation of India (BFI).
This tournament also received endorsement from FIBA 3 on 3, continuing PNC’s tradition of promoting basketball through prestigious events like the Master Prithvi Nath All India Basketball Championship, honoring Harish Sharma’s father.
