The Delhi Government has announced a monthly stipend of ₹2,000 for eligible athletes aged Under-14, Under-17, Under-19, and Under-21 who are training consistently at government sports facilities. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta made this announcement on Thursday, emphasizing that this financial support aims to encourage young athletes to maintain their training routines. She stated, 'Keep playing, keep striving. Our government is committed to ensuring that Delhi's young sporting talent receives the necessary support and opportunities.'
In her post on X, CM Gupta reiterated the importance of this initiative, stating that it is designed to help young athletes stay dedicated to their practice. The government aims to foster a nurturing environment for budding sports talent in the capital.
IOA Hosts Send-off for Asian Games 2026 Team
In another significant event, the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) organized a special send-off ceremony for the Indian contingent heading to the Asian Games 2026. This event took place on Tuesday as athletes gear up to represent India at the prestigious games scheduled from September 19 to October 4 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
