Delhi Capitals Triumph Over Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2026 Opener
DC Begins IPL 2026 with a Strong Victory
The Delhi Capitals (DC) launched their IPL 2026 campaign with an impressive six-wicket victory against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Wednesday. Cheteshwar Pujara commended the transformation of DC spinner Kuldeep Yadav.
Pujara Highlights Kuldeep's Fearless Approach
In a discussion on Star Sports, the former Indian cricketer emphasized that Kuldeep Yadav has significantly boosted his confidence over the past two years. He stated, "Confidence is crucial for a bowler's performance. Kuldeep's recent bowling reflects his self-assurance. He is now bowling fearlessly. There was a time when he lacked faith in his abilities, but that is behind him. Increased confidence leads to more wickets and a greater desire to excel," Pujara remarked.
DC Secures a Comfortable Win
After being asked to bat first, LSG was dismissed for 141 runs, with seamers Lungi Ngidi and T Natarajan each taking three wickets. DC, led by Sameer Rizvi's unbeaten 70, successfully chased down the target, earning a straightforward two points to start their season.
Kuldeep's Key Contributions
Kuldeep Yadav claimed two important wickets, including that of opener Mitchell Marsh, who scored 35 runs off 28 balls. His second wicket came when he dismissed Mukul Choudhary with a simple 'caught and bowled' play.
Marsh welcomed Kuldeep with a six in the 10th over, but Kuldeep quickly responded by having him caught in the deep on the third delivery.
Improved Skill Execution
Pujara noted, "Even if Kuldeep gets hit for a six, he continues to give flight to the ball and bowl in areas that challenge the batter to play aggressively and potentially get out."
"Since joining DC, Kuldeep's confidence has soared, leading to better skill execution, which was clearly visible in the match against LSG," he concluded.
DC's Winning Streak Against LSG
With this victory, DC has now achieved five consecutive wins against LSG in the IPL, marking them as the third team against which DC has established such a streak.
