Mukesh Kumar Penalized Following Match Loss

Delhi Capitals' fast bowler Mukesh Kumar has been fined 10% of his match fee after his team's defeat against Mumbai Indians in a pivotal match. This loss resulted in Delhi Capitals missing out on the IPL 2025 playoffs.

The penalty was imposed due to a breach of the IPL Code of Conduct, specifically a Level 1 offense under Article 2.2, which addresses the misuse of cricket equipment or any ground fixtures during a match. This indicates that Mukesh may have engaged in inappropriate behavior, such as damaging cricket gear or other items on the field. The match referee, Daniel Manohar, enforced the fine, which Mukesh accepted.

In the match, Mukesh struggled significantly, giving away 48 runs in four overs while taking two wickets. His performance was particularly poor during the 19th over, where he allowed 27 runs, shifting the game's momentum in favor of Mumbai Indians. Suryakumar Yadav and Naman Dhir capitalized on his bowling, leading MI to a total of 180 runs.

Following his bowling spell, Mukesh was replaced by impact player KL Rahul during Delhi Capitals' batting innings. Unfortunately, DC's chase fell short as they were bowled out for just 121 runs, resulting in a 59-run defeat.

Only two players from Delhi Capitals managed to score over 20 runs, with Sameer Rizvi and Vipraj Nigam contributing 39 and 20 runs, respectively. The Mumbai Indians' bowlers, particularly Mitchell Santner and Jasprit Bumrah, delivered exceptional performances, taking three wickets each and conceding only 23 runs in 44 balls combined.

Throughout the season, Mukesh Kumar has participated in 11 matches, claiming 11 wickets with an economy rate of 10.11 and an average of 32.63 runs per wicket. This match not only marked a disappointing outing for Mukesh but also for the entire Delhi Capitals team, ultimately costing them a chance at the IPL 2025 playoffs.
