Dehradun Warriors Clinch UPL 2026 Title with a 36-Run Victory
Dehradun Warriors Crowned UPL Champions
The Dehradun Warriors triumphed in the Uttarakhand Premier League (UPL) 2026, defeating Haridwar Elmas by 36 runs in the final held at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium. The Warriors showcased a remarkable all-round performance throughout the match, securing the Season 3 trophy.
Impressive Journey to the Final
During the league phase, the Dehradun Warriors had a stellar performance, winning four out of six matches and finishing at the top of the points table due to a superior net run rate. They carried this momentum into the final, applying pressure from the start and ultimately claiming the championship.
Captain Kunal Chandela's Stellar Performance
In the final match, Dehradun's captain Kunal Chandela won the toss and chose to bat first. Despite a rocky start, losing two wickets for just 22 runs, Chandela took control of the innings with a blend of patience and aggressive batting.
Chandela delivered an outstanding performance, scoring 90 runs off 51 balls, including eight fours and four sixes, achieving a strike rate of 176.47. Mohammad Uzair Malik also contributed significantly with 64 runs off 46 balls, helping the team set a challenging target of 197/7 in 20 overs.
Haridwar's Struggles in the Chase
Facing a target of 198, Haridwar Elmas encountered difficulties early on, losing their first wicket without a run on the third ball of the match. The disciplined bowling from Dehradun's bowlers made it hard for Haridwar's batsmen to score freely.
As the innings progressed, Haridwar found themselves in trouble, losing half their team by the time they reached 68 runs.
Aditya Rawat was the standout bowler for Dehradun, taking four wickets for just 19 runs in 3.4 overs, effectively dismantling Haridwar's batting order. Abhishek Singh and Sumit Juyal also contributed with two wickets each, maintaining pressure on the opposition.
Shashwat Dangwal was the lone fighter for Haridwar, scoring 59 runs off 31 balls, but he lacked support from his teammates. Ultimately, Haridwar was bowled out for 161 runs in 19.4 overs, granting Dehradun Warriors a convincing 36-run victory and the UPL 2026 championship title.
