David Beckham Supports Lionel Messi for Ninth Ballon d'Or Win
Beckham Backs Messi's Ballon d'Or Bid
David Beckham, co-owner of Inter Miami, has expressed his support for Lionel Messi, emphasizing that the Argentine football icon deserves to win his ninth Ballon d'Or. Beckham highlighted that Messi's achievements at the age of 39 are unparalleled in the sport.
Following Inter Miami's victory over Cruz Azul in the Campeones Cup, where Messi contributed with a goal and an assist, Beckham praised Messi's remarkable performance. This match marked Messi's 100th goal for Inter Miami and added to his impressive tally of 49 major trophies throughout his career.
Messi's outstanding display came shortly after he announced his retirement from international football, following a bittersweet FIFA World Cup campaign where he scored eight goals and provided four assists, but his team finished as runners-up to Spain.
Beckham's Comments on Messi's Performance
"When you witness Messi's performances, especially after his World Cup success, it's clear that no one else at 39 is achieving what he is. He absolutely deserves to be in the Ballon d'Or conversation, and in my view, he should win it," Beckham stated.
Casemiro, who scored a goal assisted by Messi, echoed Beckham's sentiments. The former Real Madrid and Manchester United player encouraged fans to cherish Messi's remaining time on the pitch, acknowledging his incredible contributions to football.
"We must appreciate this moment because we don't know how much longer we will witness his greatness. What he has accomplished and continues to do is extraordinary. He remains the best, as demonstrated during the World Cup and in MLS," Casemiro concluded.
