Beckham's Warm Welcome to the England Team

In Miami, Florida, on July 11, football icon David Beckham made a special appearance at the England national team's training session, where he was greeted enthusiastically by the players as they prepare for the FIFA World Cup 2026.

The official England football team account shared a photo of Beckham with team captain Harry Kane, stating on X, "It’s great to see you, Sir David!"

Norway's Stunning Upset Over Brazil

In a remarkable turn of events, Norway secured their spot in the quarter-finals by defeating Brazil, the five-time world champions, with a score of 2-1 in the Round of 16, marking one of the tournament's biggest surprises.

Erling Haaland shone during the match, scoring two goals and bringing his total to seven in the tournament, tying him for the most goals by a player in their World Cup debut since Poland's Grzegorz Lato in 1974.

England's Quarter-Final Journey

With this victory, England has reached their 11th quarter-final in FIFA World Cup history, trailing only Brazil (15) and Germany (14) in terms of appearances at this stage.

In their match against Mexico, England managed to score three goals, a feat Mexico had not experienced since August 1999, when they lost 4-3 to Brazil.

Remarkably, Mexico conceded more goals against England (3) than they had in their previous ten World Cup matches at the Azteca Stadium combined (2). Despite a strong push for an equalizer, England's defense held firm, securing their place in the quarter-finals against Norway on July 11.

Bellingham's Historic Performance

Jude Bellingham made history by becoming the first player since Diego Maradona in 1986 to net two goals in a World Cup match at the Azteca Stadium, leading England to a thrilling 3-2 win over Mexico on Sunday. This victory set up a quarter-final showdown against Norway, as reported by ESPN. Maradona had previously achieved this against Belgium in the semi-finals of the 1986 tournament.
