Cristiano Ronaldo Takes a New Step in Football with Club Ownership
Ronaldo's New Venture in Football
Cristiano Ronaldo has recently hinted at his future after retirement, revealing plans to engage in a new role within the football community. At 41, he continues to perform impressively for Al Nassr, approaching the remarkable milestone of 1000 career goals, and is also preparing for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. In a significant move, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner announced on February 26 that he has acquired a 25% ownership stake in the Spanish club UD Almería, which is currently competing in the second division.
Ronaldo's Investment in UD Almería
UD Almería, based in the city of the same name, is currently positioned third in the Segunda División, with promising prospects for promotion to La Liga for the 2026-27 season. This acquisition follows the club's purchase by the Saudi Investment consortium SMC Group, led by Mohammed Al-Khereiji, in May 2025. Ronaldo's investment was made through his newly formed CR7 Sports Investment, although the financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.
Ronaldo expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "It has been a long-held ambition of mine to contribute to football, beyond just on the pitch. UD Almería is a Spanish club with strong foundations and clear potential for growth. I look forward to working alongside the leadership team to support the next phase of the club's growth.” Al-Khereiji also welcomed Ronaldo's involvement, emphasizing the significance of having the legendary player invest in their club, noting his deep understanding of Spanish football from his nine-year tenure at Real Madrid.
