Thrilling Encounter at SAI Turf Ground

Imphal (Manipur) - In an exhilarating match, Zinc Football Academy (ZFA) managed to earn a 2-2 draw against Mumbay FC during their second Group B match in the I-League 3. The game, held at the SAI Turf Ground, featured a dramatic late equaliser that kept fans on the edge of their seats.

The match tested the resolve of ZFA, who faced an early challenge as Mumbay FC leveraged their experience and physical play to control the game's pace. Their strategy, which relied on long balls and securing second touches, initially troubled ZFA. However, around the 15-minute mark, ZFA adapted tactically, switching from a 4-1-4-1 formation to a more aggressive 4-4-2 setup.

This strategic shift allowed ZFA to press higher and disrupt Mumbay FC's build-up play, leading to a more balanced contest. Despite both teams creating opportunities, the first half concluded without any goals.

After the break, ZFA capitalized on their momentum. Winger Abith showcased his creativity on the left flank, delivering a dangerous cross that experienced striker Naro Hari Shrestha converted, putting ZFA ahead 1-0.

However, Mumbay FC responded quickly, equalizing from a set-piece just minutes later, which shifted the game's momentum once more.

Things took a turn for ZFA when a centre-back suffered a head injury during a critical moment. Mumbay FC seized the opportunity, scoring to take a 2-1 lead in the 92nd minute.

With time running out, ZFA pressed forward in search of an equalizer. In a thrilling climax, substitute SK Asif delivered a stunning volley in the 93rd minute, finding the back of the net and securing a point for ZFA, ending the match on a high note.

Although ZFA did not secure all three points, their fighting spirit keeps them at the top of Group B with four points.
