Zimbabwe Women's Team Prepares for India Tour
Harare [Zimbabwe], October 10: The Zimbabwe women's cricket team has announced the retention of the squad that achieved the nation's inaugural ICC Women’s Championship title for their upcoming six-match tour in India. The three-match T20I series is scheduled to kick off on October 16, as reported by the ICC.
Led by captain Josephine Nkomo, the 15-member team will face India in their first bilateral international series, starting with the T20I matches on October 16. This tour follows Zimbabwe's remarkable four-wicket victory against the West Indies at Harare Sports Club on September 27.
The T20I matches will take place in Raipur, followed by an ODI series in Vadodara commencing on October 23. These ODIs are crucial as they contribute to the ICC Women’s Championship standings.
Zimbabwe aims to maintain the momentum from their historic win as they prepare for the series against India. Notable players like Nyasha Gwanzura, who achieved career-best bowling figures of 4/33 in the previous match, will join Michelle Mavunga and Francisca Chipare in the squad.
The batting lineup includes Modester Mupachikwa, Sharne Mayers, Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano, Kelis Ndhlovu, and Beloved Biza, while captain Josephine Nkomo and Nomvelo Sibanda bring valuable international experience to the team.
This tour offers Zimbabwe a chance to build on their recent achievements, and the ODI series will be an opportunity to secure vital points in the ICC Women’s Championship.
