Zaheer Abbas, the former captain of Pakistan and a legendary batsman, is confident that Indian cricket stars Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma still have much to contribute and will likely participate in the upcoming ODI World Cup next year.

In a recent interview on a Pakistani television channel, Zaheer, who is often referred to as the 'Asian Bradman' due to his remarkable scoring ability, emphasized that both players are still among the elite in cricket. He believes that their age should not hinder their aspirations for the World Cup.

He stated, 'Both players possess exceptional skills, and with their vast experience, I see no reason for them not to compete in the World Cup. As long as they maintain their fitness and continue to score runs, age should not be a concern.'

Zaheer noted that for accomplished batsmen like Kohli and Rohit, scoring runs becomes instinctive after years of high-level performance, and their experience is a significant advantage.

He remarked on Kohli's impressive fitness and suggested that Rohit should focus more on his physical condition.

The former batter, who achieved over 100 first-class centuries in his career, expressed that India's chances would greatly improve with the duo's experience in the 2027 ODI World Cup, which will be co-hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia.

Zaheer recalled watching Rohit score a century against England, stating, 'It’s always a joy to see him bat. His timing and effortless style are remarkable.'

Discussing the rise of T20 cricket, he acknowledged the introduction of various innovative shots but stressed the importance of mastering traditional techniques like the cover drive and cut shot for any batsman aiming for success in all formats.

On the topic of Pakistan cricket, Zaheer encouraged fans to remain supportive and patient with the national team.

He expressed hope that Babar Azam's return as Test captain would bring positive changes, stating, 'He is a world-class player, and once he finds his rhythm again, it will uplift the entire team. Good times are ahead for Pakistan cricket.'
