Yuvraj Singh's Role with LSG Clarified

Speculation has arisen regarding whether Yuvraj Singh has joined the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) as a coach ahead of IPL 2026. A viral image shows Yuvraj collaborating with LSG captain Rishabh Pant, leading to questions about his potential coaching debut in the IPL. However, there has been no official confirmation from LSG regarding this matter. It appears that Pant is simply engaging in a personal training session with the cricketing icon, as he is currently not part of the T20I squad and is working towards a comeback.

Pant, who was a member of the victorious 2024 T20 World Cup team, was rested during the T20I series against England in early 2025 and has not been recalled for the Asia Cup, remaining absent from the team since then.

Yuvraj has previously mentored several players, including Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill, Prabhsimran Singh, and Sanju Samson. Notably, Abhishek made his international debut after training under Yuvraj and is part of the squad for the upcoming 2026 T20 World Cup.

Lucknow Super Giants' IPL Journey

LSG made their IPL debut in 2022, under the leadership of KL Rahul, and successfully reached the second round in their inaugural season. They also advanced past the league stage in IPL 2023. However, in IPL 2024, after Rahul's injury, Krunal Pandya took over as captain, but the team could only secure 7 wins out of 14 matches, resulting in their exit from the league stage.

Following the release of Rahul, LSG made headlines by acquiring Rishabh Pant for a staggering Rs 27 crore during the IPL 2025 mega-auction, appointing him as captain. Unfortunately, Pant's leadership did not lead LSG to the playoffs. He is set to continue as the captain for IPL 2026.

In preparation for the upcoming season, LSG has also signed Arjun Tendulkar through a trade before the IPL 2026 mini-auction, exchanging bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur with Mumbai Indians (MI). Arjun was previously with MI from IPL 2021 to 2025, while Shardul joined LSG as a replacement after going unsold in the IPL 2025 mega-auction.
