Wrestling Federation of India Wraps Up Men's Greco-Roman Events at Senior Open Ranking Tournament 2026

The Senior Open Ranking Tournament 2026 in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, has successfully concluded its Men's Greco-Roman events, with medalists confirmed. The focus now shifts to Women's Wrestling, where athletes are competing in knockout rounds to secure their national rankings. Sanjay Singh, President of the Wrestling Federation of India, praised the dedication of the participants and emphasized the importance of this tournament for evaluating domestic talent. The results from the Greco-Roman events showcased impressive performances across various weight classes, setting the stage for future competitions.
 

Men's Greco-Roman Events Concluded

The Senior Open Ranking Tournament 2026, hosted at Nandininagar Mahavidyalaya in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, concluded its Men's Greco-Roman events on Tuesday.


With the medalists in the Greco-Roman category now confirmed, the tournament has shifted focus to Women's Wrestling, where competitors are battling through knockout rounds to establish their national rankings, as stated in a press release.


In the Greco-Roman division, athletes competed across ten weight classes to determine their standings within the country.


Sanjay Singh, President of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), expressed his congratulations to all medalists and participants in the Greco-Roman events, stating, “The competition we have seen over the past few days showcases the dedication these athletes demonstrate throughout the year. This tournament is vital for assessing our domestic talent, and I believe the champions here will represent Indian wrestling with pride on the international stage.”


Women's Wrestling Progresses

Meanwhile, the Women's Wrestling competition has advanced into the later knockout stages. In the 57kg category, Kajal Choudhary achieved a quarterfinal win against Muskan and will now compete against Shivani, who progressed by defeating Suhani.


On the other side of the bracket, Reena triumphed over Nisha Saini, setting up a semifinal clash with Hansika Lamba, who advanced after overcoming Kajal in her quarterfinal match.


In the pre-quarterfinals of the 65kg category, Dishun defeated Ankita Kumar, Janvi won against Tanu, Sneha triumphed over Ritu, and Deeksha Sheor bested Sonam Singh to move on to the quarterfinals. The 76kg category has also reached its final four, confirming a semifinal match between Ishita Choudhary and Meghna.
