West Indies Adjusts T20I Roster Ahead of Pakistan Matches

St. John's [Antigua], July 31: In preparation for their T20I series against Pakistan, which kicks off on Thursday in Florida, the West Indies have made four significant changes to their squad following a disappointing 5-0 series defeat at home to Australia.

The West Indies have announced a 14-member team for the three T20 matches against Pakistan, necessitated by injuries to several players. Fast bowler Shamar Joseph, along with batters Keacy Carty, Alick Athanaze, and Johnson Charles, have been included in the squad, replacing Alzarri Joseph, Evin Lewis, Brandon King, and Shimron Hetmyer.

Cricket West Indies has stated that Alzarri Joseph will be rested for this series after his significant contributions during the recent UK tour and the home series against Australia. This decision is part of a strategy to manage his workload as the cricket calendar remains busy for the remainder of the year.

Evin Lewis, who was sidelined during the fifth T20I against Australia due to an injury, will not participate against Pakistan either. CWI has announced that Lewis will return home for further evaluation ahead of the 50-over segment of the series.

Additionally, both Shimron Hetmyer and Brandon King suffered side strains during the final T20I against Australia in St. Kitts. Hetmyer has been ruled out for the series, while King is currently under assessment to determine if he can participate in the 50-over matches starting August 8 in Trinidad.

The West Indies squad for the T20I series against Pakistan includes: Shai Hope (captain), Jewel Andrew, Alick Athanaze, Jediah Blades, Keacy Carty, Johnson Charles, Roston Chase, Matthew Forde, Jason Holder, Akeal Hosein, Shamar Joseph, Gudakesh Motie, Sherfane Rutherford, and Romario Shepherd.

Team Management consists of Daren Sammy (Head Coach), Rawl Lewis (Team Manager), Floyd Reifer (Assistant Coach Batting), Ravi Rampaul (Assistant Coach Bowling), Rayon Griffith (Assistant Coach Fielding), Dr. Denis Byam (Physiotherapist), Ronald Rogers (Strength & Conditioning Coach), Fitzbert Alleyne (Massage Therapist), Avenesh Seetaram (Team Analyst), and Jerome Foster (Media & Content Officer).
