West Indies Captain's Decision at the Toss

Ranchi (Jharkhand) [India], October 9: In the second match of the T20I series, Shai Hope, the captain of West Indies, won the toss and chose to bowl first against India at the JSCA International Stadium on Friday.

After facing an eight-wicket loss in the series opener in Lucknow, where Shreyas Iyer's remarkable century led India to victory, the West Indies are looking to equalize the five-match T20I series.

Hope explained his decision to bowl first, citing the wet conditions that he anticipated would deteriorate as the evening progressed. He expressed confidence that the team would learn from their previous mistakes and come back stronger.

“We are opting to bowl first this time. The conditions are wet and may worsen later. We need to quickly learn from our past errors and return with more strength. We have made one change: Forde is out, and Motie is in,” he stated during the toss.

On the other hand, India’s captain Shreyas Iyer mentioned that his team also preferred to bowl first but would adjust to the conditions. He emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards throughout the match and confirmed that the playing eleven would remain unchanged from the previous game.

“We were also looking to bowl first, but we will adapt quickly. We have discussed the need to uphold our standards for the entire 40 overs. We aim to challenge ourselves to improve. We are sticking with the same team,” Iyer remarked.
