New Delhi, August 5: In an impressive display, the West Delhi Lions clinched a five-wicket win against the South Delhi Superstarz during the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2026 at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday night.

The Lions showcased a strong all-round performance, first restricting the Superstarz to 160 runs in 19.5 overs before successfully chasing down the target, as reported by a DPL press release.

The Superstarz struggled to form any substantial partnerships, losing wickets consistently throughout their innings. The Lions' bowlers executed their plans effectively, maintaining tight lines that hindered the batting side's momentum.

A late surge from Vision Panchal provided some hope for the Superstarz, as he scored a brisk 24 runs off just 12 balls, helping his team reach the 160-run mark.

Mayank Gusain was the standout bowler, delivering an exceptional performance with figures of 3 wickets for just 13 runs in his four overs. Nitish Rana also contributed with 1 wicket for 30 runs, while seasoned pacer Kulwant Khejroliya took 2 wickets for 31 runs in his four-over spell.

In pursuit of 161 runs, the West Delhi Lions faced an early setback, finding themselves at 26 for 2 during the powerplay. However, Nitish Rana and Krish Yadav steadied the innings with a crucial 58-run partnership for the third wicket.

Rana played a pivotal role, scoring 32 runs off 25 balls before his dismissal. Despite losing a few wickets in the middle overs, the Lions maintained control over the chase.

Ayush Doseja stepped up under pressure, contributing a vital 44 runs off 27 balls to keep the momentum going. He received solid support from Mayank Gusain, who finished the match unbeaten on 19 runs from just 10 balls.

Gusain's efforts helped the West Delhi Lions secure the win comfortably, finishing the match with five wickets to spare.
